No Northern Virginia Trail's Too Tough to Blaze in the New Subaru Outback

In our Leesburg neck of the north Virginia woods, there's adventure over every horizon. If you're heading for parts unknown, you'll need a crossover up to the outing, but not just that of the everyday. You need an SUV borne of wagon and built rugged enough to take on all the Piedmont terrain and weather can throw at it.

That's the new Subaru Outback. It rolls into the VA north country all-new this model year, from body panels to chassis, constructed on the new Subaru Global Platform for a drive that's safer, quieter, more refined, and yet more dynamic than ever. See what one can bring to your travels here at Dulles Motorcars Subaru!

Performance Features

Subaru upgraded the base SUBARU BOXER engine, for one, to 182 horsepower, and a spirited 176 pound-feet of torque drives it. There's a new engine option, too: a 260-horsepower, 2.4-liter SUBARU BOXER turbo capable of 277 pound-feet, sure to appeal to the performance crowd.

Count on great fuel economy to boot, up to 26 mpg in a city like Middleburg and 33 mpg down the highway to spots like Purcellville, according to EPA estimates -- a more-than-600-mile cruising range. That's thanks to a Lineartronic CVT with start-stop tech.

Subaru Outback can even tow 2,700 to 3,500 pounds depending on trim. That means you can take an ATV, a dirt bike, snowmobile, or another mid-size trailerful along with you -- an 8.7-inch ground clearance makes doing it while avoiding obstacles a lot easier.

Safety and Driver-Assist Features

Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive comes standard in every Subaru Outback. It's our brand's permanent AWD system, and it features a steering-compensatory X-MODE to optimize traction in slippery conditions outside of Poolesville.

Add to that standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, with new advanced adaptive cruise control and lane-centering systems, and its commitment to your safety becomes comprehensive. Subaru even updated its STARLINK Safety and Security suite to offer more in the way of remote services.

Other available security features include a DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, which can help you concentrate, a blind-spot detector and rear cross-traffic alert for situational awareness, reverse auto brakes to help prevent rear-end collisions and more. On all trim levels save the base model, corner LED fog lights come standard to pierce the thick of low-visibility conditions.

Interior and Technology Features

Subaru Outback features a completely redesigned cabin with an airy 109 cubic feet of maximum passenger space and up to 75.7 cubic feet of room for cargo. The latter you can access at your destination in Marshall using an available hands-free power rear gate, and a standard roof rail system with built-in crossbars and enhanced tie-downs make plenty of space for extras.

Comfortable cloth seating comes standard, but you can upgrade to water-repelling StarTex upholstery for durability or, in higher trims, sumptuous Java Brown Nappa leather appointments. Seat heating and ventilation are available, as is a heated steering wheel and as are heated rear seats.

Tech-wise, Subaru Outback is a command center. 7-inch SUBARU STARLINK infotainment comes standard, with smartphone support owing to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A much larger, tablet-sized, 11.6-inch STARLINK touchscreen is newly available, putting control of your connectivity and entertainment within easy reach. 4G LTE Wi-Fi is available for accessing the Net on the go, as is 576-watt, 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio for transforming your favorite travel mixes into anthems of your trip.
